Belts with changeable buckles?

Hi, everyone. This is my first post here, so please be patient with me!

I've found some great discussions here of high quality belts (Equus, Tim Hardy, and others), but I was wondering if anyone has any views or suggestions when it comes to quality belts with changeable buckles. I prefer to match my metals where possible, and I have both silver-colored and gold-colored watches. One solution, of course, is to buy two of everything when it comes to belts, but that will quickly get expensive. There are plenty of cheap belts with changeable buckles at Amazon and elsewhere, but I'd rather get something of decent quality.

One option I've found online is J. Hilburn. I gather that their shirts and suits are of questionable quality, but has anyone tried one of their custom belts? Each one ships with both silver- and gold-colored buckles, which are attached to the belt using a pair of snaps. That's the sort of thing I'm looking for -- if the leather is nice. (I noticed that the Gentleman's Gazette has started selling belts, but I don't like the metal keepers that feature on their "belt system.") Does anyone have other suggestions for belts with changeable buckles? Or perhaps there are good reasons to avoid changeable buckles?

I haven't seen it for dress belts. For casual, there are a number of artisan people that craft bridle leather belts and some use chicago screws which allow you to swap buckles. But I haven't seen anyone who makes quality dress belts with the option.

I've seen some people recommend Anson, though I haven't used them. They do offer a basic and a higher end option.

I applaud your desire to match metals and appreciate that you do it for your own sake given that almost no one else on the planet will notice your efforts.

That said, belts are not terribly expensive (we’re not counting designer brands with advertising budgets to support), and changeable buckles always seem kind of nerdy to me. Buying two belts in brown and two in black, one each of silver and gold tone buckles, would not break many banks.

Oh, but there are suede belts and woven belts and brogue belts and narrow dress belts and wider belts for jeans and chinos and . . . . Before long, I won't have room in my closet for anything but belts!

If you buy the RRL Vincennes belt, the buckle snaps in and out and you can swap buckles with it. But I'll say a couple related things: first, go to ebay or wherever and look for "deco belt buckle" or Hickok buckle, Grip-Tite buckle, Kant-Slip buckle and you'll be introduced to the world of these fantastic old Deco and Edwardian style buckles that simply blow away anything you'll find today. The only problem is this--these old buckles safely fit on a 1" belt and the RRL Vincennes is 1 and 1/4 inch. A while back I found what must've been an older RRL Vincennes that's a 1" model and it works with all my old buckles that I've collected. So, maybe look for a different brand that has a 1" belt with a snap for slider buckles.
