Belt matching issue

I have a pair of shoes that are immune to matching belts. Most threads seem to recommend getting as close as you can to matching the shoe color, but after visiting a half dozen stores I haven't found any that are all that close. I'm thinking a dark brown belt would look better than a failed match attempt, what do you all think?

I'd go with a dark brow leather belt, it will look good.

if you don't absolutely love the shoe color, you might consider giving them a light polish with a different color that's closer to your current belt... I've made brown shoes more chili, or cognac more like dark brown, etc with a light layer of polish from my belt.

I would just wear a black belt. I'd rather contrast than compliment. It looks too contrived to me, especially with colored shoes. Even in the annals (no pun intended) of AAAC, not achieving a perfect match is acceptable.

No. OP, don't listen to this guy. Never wear a black belt to brown shoes. A different brown is the way to go, don't go for black.

I'd just get a brown belt that's pretty close. Too matchy-matchy with a slightly unusual color seems sort of odd to me, as if they were sold as a set.

If the shoes are not black then they must be a shade of brown, right? That should point you in the right direction. (unless they are grey).

There is no need to match shoe/belt colors exactly.

To me that's the same as matching a tie to a pocket hankie: anal-retentive, lacking imagination, robotic and stiff.

If you don't mind me asking, what stores are you visiting?

I see belt colors like this all the time at national chain stores like nordy's, raclk, saks, etc.

Again, you don't need it to match like a penis and a ******, mouth and penis or ****** and mouth is good enough since you don't wear it right necxt to each other.

Whatever you do DON'T wear a black belt with it......
