Changing the furniture to Togo, even in red, would have improved things. And who needs curtains?

the floors in the first picture are horrible. They look like the tiles i had in my kitchen at my last apartment. They do not mesh at all with the wood panelling, which I like as a general rule. The black couch is horrible, as are its cushions. I do'nt have a problem with red, but the execution there is terrible. Bright colors should be used in sparing quantities, imo. Different floors would go a long way to improving the room. I can't say that I like the after either. Both are bad.

The before is garish, probably due to the bright red.

The after is too stark.

I would take the before with a different palette.

FWIW, the Kuramata chair in the after is brilliant. One of the great pieces in the history of design.

Looks very uncomfortable.

Since I won't claim to be an expert in anything related to furniture design, maybe you could give us a few pointers as to why this is considered such an achievement.

I like the woodwork in the second, although I wouldn't have ebonized it. I hate the first.
