Rochester really isn't good for much other than cute, easy girls and inexpensive alcohol at bars.

All the bars I go to when visiting friends there are either Dives where they know the tenders or clubby places for meeting chicks. Sorry boys... :(

Every single time I go there my friends want to do hibachi...

I had the misfortune of going to school in Rochester for 4 years. While not great, there are some nice dining options if you are going to dig deep. There was one very nice Italian restaurant that I enjoyed on Water Street, and a few other near the Eastman Kodak hq's (right by the falls, which makes for a nice stroll after dinner). I had a very nice meal at MAX at the memorial art gallery. It is nice to eat inside a museum for a change of pace.

Stay far away from Hickey Freeman's factory. They don't let passerby's come in and driving to the factory was the only time I have ever been scared at noon in broad daylight. That area defines "wrong side of town."

If the Redwings have started to play, a game there is a lot of fun. Cheap beer/dogs and scenic field.

The whole bar scene is at East and Alexander and there you will find a handful of spots you can hop in and out of looking for chicks. Don't get too excited about the girls, though. Most hibernate during the winter and this time of year will look more like pale linebackers than anything you would want to talk to.

There's a cool vinyl record store right off 490 that is good for wasting a few hours, some solid garbage plate spots to check out after the bars close at 1 am. The lylac festival is around this time of year and always draws a major crowed. Also, check out Beale Street in southwedge area. A lot of solid history there and some great bbq.

I hope some of this helps you pass the time. For the record, I did not enjoy most of my time in Rochester, but I tried to make the most of it. Any other thoughts/questions that you have, I'll be happy to help.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
