Bally shoes (Daniell oxford): your opinion

I've just tried these Bally shoes in a store near me (in Switzerland). They were on sales at 50 % and cost about 270 USD. Same online at
http://www.endless.com/BALLY-Mens-Da.../dp/B000MVIFQI
and
http://www.amazon.com/BALLY-Mens-Dan.../dp/B000MVIFQI

I have experience with Bally suede sneakers bought at an outlet for about 100 USD (comfortable, but I wore them only twice in 2 years).

What is your opinion on Bally shoes? I know this model is not Good Year welted (unlike the Scribe model), are pretty expensive, more fashion type, but very comfortable, nice fit and leather , and very light. As I have 50+ pairs of shoes, I do not expect to wear these very often. What would you wear them with (besides jeans) considering the colour (greeen/Peridot)?

I have a pretty large collection of formal and casual (Navyboot CH/IT, Doucals, A. Sargent, Loake, C&J tavistock, etc) but not this colour. As I live in Switzerland, I tried baying online only from CT, Pediwear, Herringshoes (I'd like to try plal.com).

Can you please convince me out of these Bally shoes and/or suggest cheaper alternatives for suede oxfords in brown/green?

Try this argument. Those are ugly-ass shoes. Get something a little more classic-looking (what's more traditional than suede after all?)

Like this: Charles Tyrwhitt Suede Brogues

and they're cheaper.

If they are not Scribe range shoes steer clear and spend your hard earned money elsewhere unless quality of construction and longevity are of no importance to you.

The Scribe range is awesome, however, if a bit steep in price. I've never seen one on sale.

I personally like the shoe. I say go for it. Don't get to caught up in having it have to be a certain line. if you like it buy it. Shouldn't have to care what others think. I personally think its a really comfy shoe and it looks pretty good. Only have it in the brown wanted the green suede though. Especially if you have 50+ shoes add something different and comfy. Don't get caught up in brand bias.

demeis if someone likes the shoe and is comfy in it and is going to buy it anyway they would do so rather than come on here and ask for advice, no?
Ask and ye shall receive. People are offering and opinion on the product I stand by the fact that I feel Bally's non Scribe line are overpirced and poorly made and a bad example of value for money. As for the style well that is purley a subjective issue and each to their own on that one.

Thank your for your opinions. I find the Bally model sleek, rather italian style, ellegant and narrower than C&J 337 last, a bit pricey though. I will check it again tomorrow in the shop. The suede brogue from CT is nice (any idea who makes them?), but I will wait a few months for a better price, I am sure I will find it cheaper. Thanks for the link anyway, I just ordered the Brown pebble grainy leather brogue boot for 80 GBP (w/o VAT), strangely I checked this site a few days ago and my size (8.5UK) was Sold out, but now it is available again. http://www.ctshirts.co.uk/p/gbpdefau...t/r/Clearance/ Clearance/Web-Department/Men's-Shoes/productdetail.aspx?ppp=12&sortBy=Relevance&page=1&back=False&canned= Any opinion on these boots made by Loake 1880 I guess?

Beware of Bally shoes with very thin soles. They're just not comfortable to walk in.

+1

From Endless.com's description of the Daniell:

"The soft-as-silk leather lining and padded insole cushion the foot for unparalleled comfort." Not true.

I have the Danny boot in black which appears to be the same construction as the Daniell Oxford. I have worn my boots once and would only wear them if I am sure I won't be walking far. Nice moderately elongated last.

I bought finally the suede oxfords from Bally. I like mostly the colour and elongated last. I will wait for spring/dry weather to wear them. The sole is very thin indeed, maybe I should put a thin Vibram sole before wearing them.

I tried some other models in their shop (like some nice boots) but since non of them was good year welted (no Scribe on sale) and the price is too high for quality, I am not interested in buying other pairs from Bally soon.
