How long will it be before R & B and Herringbone just flat out merge store branding?

They are selling the same products with a different label tacked on.

That being said, is there any reason now to elevate Herringbone over R & B on this forum?

Maybe they have moved to being the same product but fwiw they looked much the same last year too, I ended up ordering the herringbone first but the cut was obtuse to say the least, the R&B one was slimmer cut with slightly thicker material. In any event both of them had quite a bit of stock at their end of winter sales last year where both colours could be had for less than half their regular price.

Before you try anything too drastic get a wet cloth with a bit of texture (like a facecloth) and give the mark a scrub.

If that doesn't work you'll probably have to try a suede shampoo.

I need to restock on AW trousers... where do you guys shop for odd pants? Looking for primarily wool / flannel. I have a few pairs of Howard Yount pants (pents, urgh) which are pretty decent, but wondering if there are any local options worth checking out. Price range $150 to $250.

And for the last six months or so Herringbone have been using R&B's suit manufacturer.

Half canvassed is an imprecise term but to my untrained eyes there would appear to be more fusible materials in their current range. The jackets feel stiff and unyielding like my old Boss suit. I have a fully canvassed Canali suit and the difference is night and day.

Herringbone's and R&B's shirts are now identical except for patterning too.

Be careful with denim, it is very hard to get sizing right.

I can't recommend Blue Owl enough however, you really need to know your stuff.

If you live in Sydney and want Japanese Denim, check out Corlection in Pitt Street. If you really can't stand parting with an extra $10-$20 to buy locally, go back to Blue Owl and buy online. If you want Nudies, or Tellason, or Levis or other mid/upper jeans, try Maple in Balmain/Sydney.

Fit is king with jeans - above all else. It doesn't matter how sexy your raw denim gets over 3 years, if they fit like crap they'll get no love.
Jimmy,

Unfortunately I live in Sydney.

Buying denim is a hard one for me. I have large thighs so while the waist fits, it is probably too tight around the thighs. Mavi is the only brand I've found thus far, however I'm looking for something different. Japanese denim tends to be for guys with skinny legs.

I just picked up a pair of Tellason from Maple in Newtown. They seems to have a bit more room in the thighs than normal slim fit or slim tapered cuts.

For stains that don't come out try a emery board. This is the only place I have seen this tip but it worked from me (and since this guy worked an Michael Bastian's right hand man and is now leading the Eidos Napoli brand I trust his judgement) - http://13thandwolf.blogspot.com/2009/09/how-to-clean-sauce-from-suede-shoes.html

Stick to HY pants. It's hard to find flannel pants/ decent quality pants. Other good options incotex and Mabitex. Mabitex sartorial line construction is little better than HY and has pick stitching along side seam.

Firman - (In escalating order of harmlessness) - if its oil or just in case it is - sprinkle a bunch of good old Bi Carb Soda and leave over night - will soak up oil. Scrub with stiff dry old toothbrush. Try a plain white soft pencil rubber on it. Generally works. A soft (sandstone or soapstone?) block used for hands and feet - forget what they are called - is usually good and safe. If all that fails some white vinegar on spot.

Or if all else fails, finally, a big general shampoo with Baby shampoo all over. Must work into a lather, shampoo not self, and rinse lather off - takes all grit and dust with it. Must wet suede evenly all over.

Plain white chalk can work too - make sure its not oil based crayon. The chalk is absorbent of oil and other stuff, neutral and slightly abrasive and can be easily brushed or washed out.
