There's no SuitSupply in Melb.

The Sydney one is a deeply frustrating experience, and I'm a regular visitor. They insist on you having an 'appointment' when you go in if you want anything. So you've got to wander around for 15 mins waiting for one of the many salespeople to free up.

Said salespeople know extremely little, and their stock is limited. Plus their prices have gone up significantly over the last year or two.

Be prepared to be underwhelmed.

I recall the last few times I was there, I pretty well just wandered about helping myself to things on the racks to try on.

I rather enjoy being ignored by salespeople to be honest, as there’s only a small handful of shops in the country where they know anything and/or add any value.

I think that price point was my pain point, even some years back. They have decent cloths and some good blocks, but fairly indifferent construction and finishing.

For similar money, you can routinely get made in Italy/Japan garments on sale. Or, for a bit more, MTM from somewhere like Trunk.

Got a question for those of you who’ve used Oscar Hunt’s services… how do they compare - in terms of house style - to say P Johnson, MJ Bale, Suit Supply, SM, Cavour etc. I can see they do the whole soft shoulder thing (who doesn’t these days), but what about notch, lapel width, button stance, and arm hole height? Are the quarters more of less open? Can they cut a jacket with more drape in the chest?

Considering giving them a try…

Has anyone had experience with Wil Valor or the Modern Gentry in Brisbane? Looking to test the world of custom suiting with a shirt and summer jacket, before looking at a suit & custom knitwear once summer is over.

Can you tell me more about the brown Armani? Double vents? What’s the back length? And how does it fit? Baggy or tight? I take it the sleeve buttons are non working and easy to shorten?

Photographs are terrible, took pictures at the wrong time of day. It is actual navy and white with a purple under thread.
Not particularly fitted, dual vents and non-functioning buttoned sleeve - back is 29” from base of collar.

Does anyone fly with a travel safety razor and blades? I've been getting back into a fairly busy schedule lately and have been using disposables but always manage to cut myself.

I recall some time back travelling with a Feather 'Popular' razor which is mostly plastic. That never seemed to create any issues in airports and also was cheap enough that on the off-chance it got confiscated, wouldn't be a big loss.

But, I wouldn't actually mind a proper metal travel razor and case, provided I won't lose it!

Not sure about the blades themselves (I usually just store them underneath if I have checked luggage) but I have found that breaking the razor down and packing the parts separately tends to reduce the chance of being held up at security...
