I can’t believe people give Simon Crompton money.

@The J if you want a decent watch cap Berg and Berg have some nice ones on sale. I believe they’re made by Johnson’s as well I have one from them made by Johnson’s, that’s a beige cable knit, 100% cashmere. It’s survived many trips and hiking expeditions, especially where I nearly didn’t.

A few lads here have Johnson’s Donegal watch caps through @Henry Carter, they’ll attest to the quality.
Heres Prince of Paisley modelling my latest design. First "drop" sold out. Next drop will be dearer due to demand.
We made 200 this time, so hopefully they won't all go in a day, like last time. Colours are the same. Now 69GBP = aud$122. Plus postage and wrapping in gold fairy dust.

I got some filling pieces sneakers from end for under 200. Ordered 2 sizes, kept the one that fit better and have been very happy.

Isn’t that for @The J and the market to decide?

You asked for my reasoning and that's it.

I don't think that the market makes any decisions, it's just a metaphor to describe the decisions humans make.

I bought my first pair of Common Projects in 2007.

I played soccer in them every Friday afternoon in summer.

I wore them them in rain storms in Manilla.

I replaced them with a pair of Wings + Horns Sneakers in 2012.

I wore them hiking in British Columbia.

Still going strong.

If you value the minutiae of these sorts of things, Common Projects have a uniquely low profile last.

Wings + Horns took the classic Lanvin last and toe box and applied their own sensibility to the hide and hardware.

I think I'm going to try C.QP next - I like the smaller toe box and I'm curious about the deconstructed upper.

I'd really struggle to pay more than $100.00 for a pair of sneakers, but that's just me.

I bought a couple of pairs from Country Road during some sales, although they are not plain leather - they've got a sort of pebble-grain or scotchgrain pattern. However, they're nice. They also have a couple of colours in nubuck/suede.

CR have some in their online outlet store - I'm not sure if they still have any in their bricks-and-mortar stores:

The quality of Country Road and Trenery have definitely improved over the last couple of years. Their homeware is fairly nice as well.

Bought my first pair of Crockett & Jones in 2007 - the gateway brogues.

Played rugby in them every Friday afternoon in winter.

Wore them with my pinstripe 3-pc suit to death metal concerts in Manila.

Got into numerous fights with miners in the rain.

Replaced them with a pair of blue alligator Cleverly loafers in 2012.

I wore them big game hunting in Namibia.

Still going strong - and I brought home a few skins for my next pair of shoes.
