Is there any way to make heels narrower?

Alden’s LHS fit me really well at the forefoot but I have narrowish heels which result in heel gap even after breaking in the soles.

I tried heel pads (the cheap foam ones) and besides not helping much they push my feet forward and cram my toes.

Tongue pads are slightly better but don’t solve the issue.

Any ideas? Maybe adding leather pads to the sides of the heel counter?

Thanks
