Yes, both black and purple label RL are up there. But never pay full price. Check out consignment stores to find bargains.

Hey guys, I have a few questions about pants that I hope someone can answer.

1. How do you get pants hemmed/cuffed with little to no break to drape nicely as in this photo (and many other photos from the WAYWT Menswear thread)?

Whenever I do it it ends up looking like this.

Second question, if I hem my pants to a length with no break, often when I'm sitting down, they will ride up the leg and sometimes my bare skin ends up showing because I don't wear OTC socks. Is there a practical way to avoid this?

Thanks for your help.

Are you 100% sure you want no break? Just to offer some insight I felt the same way as you perhaps 6 years ago or so when I first got into this. So I hemmed my pants with no break. It only took me a couple weeks to realize how uncomfortable I felt with them. So I never wore those pants again. Not saying you won't like it but definitely think it over. I like keeping a little break.

Just out of curiosity, why didn't you just get them rehemmed with a fuller break at that point?

Sometimes you can't if the seamstress cut too much off.

The trousers in your first picture almost look like they are too short. I'm not sure if they even reach the shoe.

Several possible solutions.

1. Wear OTC socks.

2. Don't sit down.

3. Color the skin on your lower legs with Magic Marker, so that it looks like your socks are OTC. (If anyone calls you on this one, claim you did it as an homage to practice of employing paint-on hosiery during WWII. http://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/paint-on-hosiery-during-the-war-years-29864389/?no-ist

They're all good solutions, but if you've hairy legs, don't forget to give them a close shave before trying #3, above.

Here is my collection of shell so far. What am I lacking (I have a pair of Alden boots coming)? What should I look for next?

Size 10, width A/C therefore slimmer than normal
