Anyone who's happy with their current salary is a damn fool.

I voted yes, primarily to oppose Odoreater.

ok, real answer here: I work for a fair salary. It could be better, but let's be frank: I have everything I need at the moment, contribute a good amount to retirement, and enjoy a lot of latitude in my job. Am I happy-happy-joy-joy? No, but to me job satisfaction is less about the figures on the paycheck, and more about working conditions and the flexibility to pursue activities outside work.

I make $10.50 an hour doing work that I don't enjoy in any way whatsoever. I also have them (Them = The Man) trying to stuff two 35 hr/wk positions into my workweek.

So no, I'm not really happy. OTOH, I realize that nobody in business is actually only doing the work that could get done in 40 hours. I don't work to be happy, I can do that in my home life. I work to make money. So I'm not happy with my current salary, but for a kid still in college, it's not too bad.

The question wasn't whether you are happy with your current job, the question was whether you are happy with your current salary.

actually, i am pretty happy with my present salary, but I am taking into account the bonus structure and the fact that I will, most probrably, get a 6% raise every year while at this company. I am not making a huge amount, but I am making enough to live well on, or at least well enough to fit my expectations. I also have the added bonus of having taken a huge paycut in the recent past, and now I am back to earning what I did before the paycut, so it is like the story of the guy who takes a goat into his house and then feels the space increase when he puts the goat back outside.

I am happy with mine. I make more right now than I had planned to be earning at this point in time at my last job. Significantly more. One year from now, however, I expect a promotion to the next grade (I'm a fed) and the accompanying raise. If I do not get that within 18 months, I will be unhappy. I deserve it.

No, I'm not happy about my salary. I work a part-time job to make more money, but I want to eventually only have to work one job to make this kind of money.

I choose not to distinguish between job and salary. I see one as a function of the other and inseparable. They are both satisfactory.

Put it another way - you might pay me beaucoup lucre to shovel manure. While the lucre would be satisfactory, the job itself would not be, and I'd have a hard time finding a salary that would make me satisfied with the overall situation.

Shoveling **** is often a hell of a lot better than corporate life. I often miss the days of working in the fields/on farms compared to sitting at a desk all day. They both have their goods and bads obviously, though. I'm sure if I was back out there shoveling **** all day, I'd be saying how good I had it when I was a pencil pusher
