For those that aren't familiar with all the Brooks Brothers (BB) and Ralph Lauren (RL) models, here are the ones I know of. I've linked to their respective websites if possible. Feel free to let me know of any additions or corrections and I can try to keep it up-to-date. Also, if you know which last a given RL model is on, let me know and I'll add it. I'm not positive about the links with question marks; please let me know if you can confirm.

Brooks Brothers (differences usually include Poron insole, combination outsole, and branding):

Ralph Lauren:

Great list, thanks.

Sounds familiar. By the time I could afford a nice pair of Sundowners like my dad owned, they'd moved production and I knew better than to buy them. Ended up with LL Bean Crestas instead -- remarkably similar, made in Italy, and available in narrow sizes.

To stay remotely on-topic, I'm wearing fully-lugged Dublin Bayfields right now. I'm reasonably sure I could tackle fifteen not-too-technical miles a day with a fifty-pound pack wearing these things.

You mean like these?

I agree the Bayfield can handle a lot, one of the reasons I own 3 pair of them.

CXL, calf and shell

Hope the Fall brings something back in the way of a boot that is decent. Last couple of years we have gone through this around the same time of the year but seems like more and more classics and great styles are gone now. Going through the shoebank website I can't seem to get excited over any offerings in my size for either shoes or boots.

Interesting webgem

$250 for a DR made chukka? Yikes.

I wish they would reintroduce an unlined normal desert boot in the fall. For some reason I never saw the appeal of them until the Mojaves were all gone (and the Amok doesn't fit me well).

Clark's won't make them in wide, and neither will Rancourt. And I'm not dropping $500 on the Alden...

On another note, I see that they've introduced "dark chili" as a color. I wonder if this is a new shade, or if they've simply added more cayenne, cinnamon, or dark chocolate to the existing chili.

Two for $299 applies to shell if you use the password, "Paul, said to make me a deal." Just got shell Dundees and Daltons for $299!

Methinks this is a joke, and/or a tribute to a troll who used to post here making fun of people who expected low-priced perfection from shell seconds.

Methinks you're right and a test to see how many people call and keep repeating, "Paul, said to make me a deal" while the puzzled SA keeps repeating, "I have no clue what you are talking about." I see at least one poster took the bait.

Ouch, New Daltons are $425 now. Thats a $25 jump.

Seems an increase hasn't made it to 2nds yet.

If you were on the fence about Stands, as I am, You have till Monday since the Nordstrom price is still the same. Trying to talk myself out of it.

NS, neither Dalton nor Dundee are a closeout style so technically, they should not be a part of the 2 for $299 sale. I wouldn't even bother calling AE about this.
