I am out of town at a meeting, but while wearing my suede McClains, I noticed a tear in the suede on the inner portion of the left shoe near the vamp but right above one of the perforations. Is this something that can be repaired or am I just SOL ? These shoes are only 5 months old and have been worn only a few times.

I would complain to AE and see what they can do.

Great shoes by the way, a pity I couldn't get them to fit my feet.

The OP didn't indicate whether the tear in the leather was a result of defective material or workmanship, in which case a complaint to AE might certainly be in order. If it is a laceration caused by contact with a sharp object, then obviously AE is not at fault. I think a local shoe repairman might minimize the damage with a judicious application of glue, or the OP might attempt it himself.

You might check out A-E's new Bel-Air in chocolate suede. That shoe looks good enough to eat! Like yourself, I find the "new" #8 last to be a poor fit. The Bel-Air is on the new 0 last, which, based on a brief try-on, I find a considerable improvement on the new #8 (aka 108) last. The Bel-Air is a blucher, but if that doesn't bother you, it might be just what you want.

I called AE and they told me to ship them back as they may be under warranty. I don't think I hit or struck anything sharp as I was indoors the whole time while wearing them. thanks for the advice.
