I'm in the market for new shoes to wear, primarily, with formalwear (tuxedo and full evening dress). The main problem I have is my foot runs very narrow - this makes it very difficult to find shoes that can even come close to fitting. For reference, some of my standard dress shoes are Allen Edmonds in a 10AA, but I'm trying to find a different brand to buy.
One option could be the Bartlett Oxford by Rancourt and Co. I could order this in a 9.5B (I have another pair of shoes in this last, same size, that I can make fit reasonably well). For an extra $100, I can customize it by removing the broguing. I like Rancourt, though this isn't my favorite shoe/option, and for $500, seems like there are better options for the money out there?
Other options that have caught my eye are European shoemakers. This brings up a quandary in that they don't offer such narrow lasts. A few that have caught my eye: Velasca opera pumps, Carmina opera pumps, Carmina 910 wholecuts, or customizing a pair of wholecuts from TLB Mallorca to their E width (Artista 108 or 199 in Picasso? last or the mainline Jackson in Alan last).
So, my question is, can anyone comment as to how reasonably close some of the European shoes could get to fitting a narrow foot? Is it worth trying out/going down that road? I live in the US, for shipping/ordering purposes. I'm open to and welcome any suggestions! I'd like to keep the price at or below $500.
