Lots of great advice. I'd really stick to eBay/Etsy/thrifting. As long as its not thrashed, clothes look better a bit worn, even if it means you're stealing valour from someone else's long life. Save searches for "Vintage Polo Ralph Lauren" and "Vintage Brooks Brothers" etc. I found a 70s Levi's corduroy "Action Suit" on ebay for like 50 bucks. It's so fun and very Wes Anderson.
Do you live in a city? There may be vintage menswear dealers you can visit.
I think one of the fun things about Wes Anderson characters is that they're not quite "correct" in terms of CM. They'll have some sort of weird affectation that kind of defines their worldview. What's yours? Is it a particular color, wearing a nehru collar shirt with a suit, etc?
To that end I agree that it would be a strength to actually have a super tight wardrobe. If it's too sprawling, it's difficult to home in on a recognizable style.
Have fun!
