today I wore all off the rack clothes - shirt, pants, shoes, for the first time in more than 10 years. I don't think that my wife has ever seen me wear non- bespoke clothes (aside from shorts or sports clothes). it was a little strange. I have gotten to the point where most of my clothes are way too big, but I want to keep loosing wieght, so I don't want to have anything made yet. I bought some landsend pants and shirts, and I have a few pair of old church shoes that I don't wear too much anymore, but I thought that it would fit in with the theme of the evening to wear them.

That must be heartbreaking, Globe. But congrats on all the weight loss. I imagine the tradeoff will be well worth it, once you factor in your long-term health.

My fluctuating weight is one factor that keeps me away from bespoke. Wish I could feel confident that I'll weigh roughly the same in five years as I do now.

Once you get to your goal weight, you can treat yourself to some nice new things. Are you planning already?

i would have never imagined a response like that from anyone in all of the inter net. my first thought was to congratulate globetrotter on the weight loss and to look forward to how his current favorites will look tailored down and how he has a whole new slimmer wardrobe to enjoy, but this really is the only forum where a style-conscious, heterosexual male could get accused of being bulimic.

Valid point... except he didn't mention bulimia, and that's not the only possible medical reason for weight loss.

It must quite painful to look at all the clothes you must have loved and cherished after your major weight loss...
You must be feeling a sense of loss .

I imagine it must be pretty sad to say goodbye to the old stuff, but look at it as an opportunity and excuse to start over once you hit your weight goal, but with a more refined idea of what you like and want from your clothes than ever before. You can recreate what you liked, and improve what you didn't.

He said "I want to keep losing weight" which suggests he is consciously working to lose it rather than it being 'unusual'...

Anyone who's followed Globe's posts knows that he's been working his tail off for a while.

Congrats Globe and keep up the good work!

Incidentally, any chance you could have the bespoke work re-cut by the same tailors? Might be a PITA and not worth the expense/trouble, but asking couldn't hurt.

oh, yeah - part of the motivation process. I have the whole wardrobe planned out, down to the fabrics and details. once I am sure that I have a stable weight, I am going to replace everything, business and casual, suits shirts underwear etc. I hope that this will be about next january
