This is a large photographic print that I own which I thought might be of sartorial interest:

i really don't get the fact that the pants bottom is kinda baggy but still looks great.....

any guy wearing it that way today would get a disapproving look from the knowing minds......

another detail:his tie is just amazing almost certainly 7 folds, just by the proportions you can almost certainly tell its around the 10 cm width not the 8.5~9cm usual width of typical ties today. if im right about the width its 7 folds.

the coat has fishmouth lapels pretty slim,the wool seems kinda heavy for the sun,the suit appears incredibly hard wearing......proportions have nothing special just good.

as a lubavitcher wearing BORSALINOS every week ends for shul since im bar mitsvah i can tell you our hat maker sells those small brim hats like crazy with the young crowd.smaller the brim,cooler the kid.

It seems that suit silhouettes in those days favored a fairly trim coat with wide-legged trousers and cuffs.

You'll also notice the lapel pin he is wearing, and the pocket-watch chain with the fob on the man in black.

the really good part is the way everything is balanced.

a guy in italy today if he is fitted its more like tight a guy going loose in america is baggy

but this guy has a perfect fit jacket rightly fitted at the chest and only slightly looser(?) at the shoulders but almost wide at the sleeve end.

same with the tie: its a wide specimen but worn high and short.

same with the pants:crotch is fitted but bottom slightly loose and somehow it works...


its just like perfectly balanced and natural the same way a guy would feel in T-shirt jeans today......

the pin not clear enough

whats on the pocket square?? looks fairly dark for a pocket square though.........
belt seems narrow ,about a inch wide....

I didn't know the the width of the tie would necessitate a multifold of any kind, let alone a 7 fold.

The band on the hat is about the same height as the trouser cuff. The belt is a little narrower. Wide tie, narrow lapels; the spread collar plays rhythmically against them. This reminds me of how my grandfather and his friends looked, out on the town. They didn't have lots of clothes, but they kept the ones they owned, pressed and prepared. Offhand, but polished.
