Is a silk scarf any useful for a sports coats kinda guy? I'm thinking about buying one.
Can it be matched with a trench coat for example, or is it just for formal occasions?

I only wear them when it's really cold. I know I'm in the minority, but I'm not tying one around my neck unless I'm wearing my heaviest of overcoats. I would feel a little too dandy wearing one with only a sportcoat.
