    Should I still tip 15%?

It's pretty standard practice to not tip for alcohol at a restaurant. So if your $150 meal was including a $60 bottle of wine, tip for $90. No it's not standard practice. Do you stiff your bartender when you eat at the bar too? That sounds like weak justification to be cheap. Tipping is part...

    Should I still tip 15%?

When you're spending more per head there are presumably more people working in the background that the tips are shared with. Polished brass fixtures, always gleaming bathrooms, shined flatware, pressed linens. You're paying for these hands. In the Marine Corps it is said there are 10 men for...

    Tailors in D.C.

There's a guy in town who used to be a Hickey Master Tailor, been sewing since age 12. He does some talking heads but is very low profile. Certainly not intentional but it is incidental. Prices have always been very reasonable and he'll do everything: bespoke, dart shirts, surgeons cuffs and...

How do you feel about Cilantro

very funny! i remember eating Japanese food with him and the chef slipped a piece of cilantro into an omakase dish and he practically fainted. turned white, the whole thing. there are genetic markers that affect flavor (or our perceptions of flavor). perhaps the most famous is the "asparagus...

    What wine for $300 budget

Didier is legit. Get some vintage grower Champagne to start things off. Find a good store with Terry Theisse's portfolio. It will be drunk be first and your contribution remembered. It's easy to get lost in the red sea.

How do you feel about Cilantro

I wonder if there is a genetic basis for not liking it. It's a staple in Asian and Latin kitchens. Maybe the inverse of lactose intolerance for Euros? Michel Richard is known to hate the stuff. However so much isn't right without it.
