    what's wrong with corrected grain

I had AE Sheltons because I love the black/burg. saddle style. These are $300 CG shoes and nicely made, but I couldn't get past how they wrinkle and crease - the wrinkles are tinier and pointier as has been mentioned, plus the phony sameness of the leather, even after a year of weekly wears. I...

    Most disturbing movie ever

Silence of the Lambs The first time I saw it, I was freaked out by the "cutting the security guard up and stringing him up as an art project" scene, the crazy guy making a fat suit out of dead girls' skin and the thought of being trapped in a dark basement whilst said guy was coming after me...

    French Blue shirts okay?

I own BB's end-on-end button-down in french blue. The texture of the shirt and the contrast of the light buttons make for a nice casual shirt with a heavier jacket (corduroy or tweed). This combination looks good with a navy emblematic or red/green/navy repp stripe tie...

Collars - in or out of sweaters

Collars always "in". When I push up my sleeves, I roll my cuff once and then adjust the sweater sleeve so it leaves a 1/4" or so of the shirt cuff roll showing. Then I can push up the whole thing further if desired.

Lint roller on Sweaters and pea coats?

I have a nice Kent 2-sided clothes brush I got from their e-bay store. One side is rougher and one side is softer. I use this instead of a lint roller on all my clothes now.

Why is the CP Company Zip Sweatshirt so Expensive?

I love how the company name is only screen-printed on the back neck. For $658 they couldn't have embroidered it?

Lexol - Pump Spray or regular bottle?

I use Lexol wipes - for both the cleaner and the conditioner (the blue bottle shown below is for vinyl/plastic I use it on my crocs /wink/) You can get the wipes at auto parts stores. I use 1 wipe per pair of shoes, depending on how dirty they are (usually not too dirty). I wipe the cleaner...

    Shoes With Character

Alden for Brooks Brothers Plain Toe Shell Bluchers. I've had 'em for 2 years and got them from ebay with minimal wear. From the numbers, Alden said they were originally #8 and made in 2002 or 1992. From the brown color, I'd guess the latter..... I think tan calf shoes show age/character...

    Shoe polishing Questions

I am confused. Are the shoes cordovan leather (shell) or cordovan (burgundy) colored calf? If calf, clean the shoes up with baby wipes and then use cream to nourish and then wax to even out the surface and get a shine. If shell, clean 'em up with baby wipes and then brush vigorously and for a...

washing canvas shoes in the dishwasher

I'd just be cautious about the temp. of the water. Water hot enough to sterilize plates may melt shoe glue... Also, I'd rather not have dirty shoe crud on my dinner plates. I'd put 'em in the clothes washer on warm and delicate instead.
