    DE Shaving Progress ^ Advice

Ok, so we're four weeks in, and I'm now at this stage: 1. I'm using a Merkur 34C with Feather blades. Tried derby (ok), Vidyut (crap), Gilette 7'oclock (good), Feather (best) 2. I can do two with-the grain passes with no nicks reliably now. 3. I can do against-the-grain above the chin-line...

Sanders shop open - interesting casuals

Also some higher-quality stuff than I've seen from them in a while ('Diplomat' range). I'm thinking about the beige suede brogues at the bottom of the linked page. http://www.sanders-uk.com/categories/-Casual-11.php

    Itching from boat shoes

After I wear boat shoes for a whole day, without socks, I get a lot of itching under the tongue of the shoe. Does this happen to anyone else? Should I try a different brand, or do I have some kind of allergy?

    Sanders Diplomat Range

Does anyone have experience with these? I'm looking at the brown full brogue and the chukka in particular. http://www.sanders-uk.com/categories/Diplomats.php I haven't seen shoes at this price point from Sanders before.

    High quality, unbranded key fob

Am looking for one. Google isn't helping. Usual brands like Swaine Adeney don't have one. Options? Leather fob with silver-coloured ring preferred.

    Wallet choice

Which is worse - pulling a brown wallet out of a dinner jacket, or pulling a black wallet out of a tweed jacket? I can't really bring myself to move my stuff between two wallets like a woman with handbags. Also, does anyone have experience with Launer? http://www.launer.com/leather-wallets

    Check without bank name?

I've just got a cheque printed from the accounting system of a US company, but it doesn't have the name of the bank on it, which I've never seen before. When I get my UK bank to negotiate a foreign cheque, I need to tell them the drawee bank. How can I find it out?

    Eastern Eurpean shoes - identification

I just thrifted these for 7 pounds: Does anyone recognise the maker? Google doesn't seem to. Do they look as if they were bespoke? Nice curved channeled soles. Not my size, unfortunately (I reckon about uk size 8), so ebay beckons. Also picked up a pair of New & Lingwoods in the same design...

    Rolling up sleeves neatly

I prefer rolled up shirt sleeves to be somewhat messy, but I see some people (mostly in magazines, but sometimes in real life) with very neatly folded over / rolled shirt sleeves. How is this achieved?

    Grenson Chukka Boots UK 9.5F

I bought these on ebay, but the toe shape is a little elongated for my tastes, and they're too narrow for me. Original Auction Would be happy to recoup the sale price. So, 40 pounds plus postage. Edit: I should point out they're calf, which isn't mentioned in the old ebay posting. They're also a...

Gieves and Hawkes Black Calf Full Brogues UK 11F

Ebay listing I post this partly for the usual reason but also, since it's the first clothing item I've sold on Ebay, to ask if I've made any faux-pas in the listing.

Herring shoes new website and new lines

I know a number of you use Herring shoes. They have a new website http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/ and new premier lines of their own brand. They also, pleasantly, admit who makes their own-brand shoes (Loake for normal, Sargent and Cheaney for Premier). Also, this is sweet: Monk

Half sole / full sole for repair

I can't seem to find this in the archives. Is there any real difference other than aesthetics between repairing my soles with the leather cut off at the narrow part of the shoe (just replacing the worn part -- a "half sole") and replacing the whole lot, assuming both are done competantly? This...

    Austin Reed Jacket 40R

This Jacket has arrived. It's too big for me. It's a 38R, but fits like a 40R. The pattern is interlocking horizontal and vertical bone(?) shapes in black and white. Does that have a name? Will let it go for what I paid for it: 10UKP including UK postage. Or will ship abroad at cost.

    I can't wear printed ties!

We had a thread a while ago entitled something like "I can't wear white shirts any more!". I have a similar issue. I can't wear printed ties. Woven ties seem just to be so much nicer. I find printed ties lifeless. I seem to associate them with cheapness, though I don't know why. I...

    Sprucing up an old tie

I've just bought a nice Henry Poole tie http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=130071945781 It's a lovely thick woven navy blue with silver and pink medallion. It's obviously been hanging vertically for a long time (looking at the colour of the lining and condition of the material, I reckon...
