Agreed with @ajd578. More specifically, maybe start by wiping with a damp cloth to clean them, and then, as recommended earlier, brush the heck out of them before applying anything. Chromexcel has a lot of fats and wax within that surfaces with a lot of brushing. After that, if necessary, go...

That's what I was thinking, and then realized I was on CAD (not USD). Here's the less-eye-popping USD pricing:

I was just thinking the same thing! I picked up the black cognac shell Halketts and love 'em. This pair (in the rawhide) looks so good in the photos. I was on a self-imposed boot-acquiring moratorium. I was being pretty good. Then, last night, Standard & Strange sent an email about new stock of...

I would be happier with a return to a more sane, reasonable SPI. I’m no expert on the matter — so this is just supposition — but I’m inclined to believe that an SPI beyond a certain point might actually be less durable, perhaps more prone to tearing.

What’d I miss? Wow, pricey. What was the special sauce? I’ve been traveling for work and haven’t been keeping up.

Wow. Those do things in certain light. Shouldn't have skipped them. Despite my best efforts, I can't pick up everything I love -- but I think I'd love these. 😁 Beautiful pair, sir.

I love that color, and am surprised I haven’t picked up some TPR by now. You’re encouraging me to look around and see what TPR choices in my size are out there.

VSC = Venetian Shoe Cream. I've found the key with VSC is to use as little as possible, otherwise wax buildup will occur. I've found Saphir Renovateur is less likely to leave the waxy layer that makes itself known as you start to crease/bend the leather.

I’m like you in this regard. I was one-down to start and then started gravitating to half-down, mostly because of size availability (which is a consideration when you’re at the bottom of the bell curve at Brannock 7.5). While I now mostly go half-down out of habit — and perhaps also due to the...

Yeah, I should have been clearer. Living in the US, I have a US size Brannock device, and size down relative to my Brannock size with that.

I still size down 1/2 to one full size with Viberg. And I size down one way or another with Lofgren makeups so far, too -- except maybe this M43.

I'd lean toward the first two, just because I'm a bit more partial to the products of the first two brands. I like Alden, but just not as much as Viberg and Lofgren. I want to share a personal cautionary tale with the M43, in terms of sizing. Standard & Strange's website (and their staff) has...

That's a good question. I've picked up boots from all three of those makes from Standard & Strange, but not sure if any of them were SMUs, and/or if they do SMUs with them. I just like shopping at S&S regardless. 😁💸

I got the impression that Viberg, for a time, de-prioritized special makeups with stockists.

I love those, and have a feeling that’ll be one of the makeups I regret skipping. I love my Tricker's, too, but I have more Vibergs than any other single make in my collection, and I think you've just found out why. Congratulations and wear them well! EDIT: What kind of care information did...

I have several Saddle Tan Chromepak makeups, and I agree that while the pull-up on them is very nice, it's not as interesting to me as on your olive ones. I dig the yellow and green hues a lot -- again, so unique. I did! I picked up the brown Chromexcel 2020-lasted Halkett. I don't have any...

I love the unique pull-up tone on those. And I love olive/green boots. I'd pick up this makeup (there's a pair left in my size) if I didn't have several Chromepak makeups already -- and have several boots already ordered and awaiting completion or delivery.

Looking at your collection, I'd say the Donkey Puncher, as there's nothing else remotely like it in your current collection, and it's an outstanding makeup. I have it in black -- and recently picked up the burgundy -- and it remains one of my favorite makeups in a fairly thorough collection. I...
