    The $10,000 dollar Panama hat

I have an older panama hat that today would probably be priced at the $1000 point. Not quite the best, but still a nice one. I understand that the pricing has to do with how fine the weaves are, but I'm not too sure on details. If you consider the gruelling process it takes to produce one real...

What kinds of hats do you guys wear?

I´m really into hats and they did NOT ruin my hair - it´s just as thick as it used to be, just lots of white in it lately. I wear classic felt hats in black and grey in winter, a homburg with evening wear, in summer I take out my two wonderful fono-fino Panamas that I love, they go with...

Wearing hats without looking like an old man

I saw a Kangol Panama hat with a very small brim. It might work with my small body. Thanks for the suggestions. Dear Dapperhead, You have found just the right solution! A Panama with a small (not too small!!) brim would be just right. Panams are light, protect from sun and heat, but they...

Why Days Of Wearing A Tie Are Numbered

Gentlemen, Of course ties are not out of fashion! As long as there will be men who appreciate well-fitting clothes and an elegant look, there will be ties and bow-ties around. Even though formal dress is being demanded less in the working world, there are still many who have to or like to dress...

    The best hats around...

I can confirm the recomendation of Zeef Wolf about Szaszi-hats in Vienna. Shmuel Shapira is doing a great job. And it's a remarcable shop. Where are these hat carriers available? I am a frequent flyer and so frequently confronted with the problem: Szaszi-hats have recently started to have...

    Where to Shop in Vienna?

Hello, all you gentlemen who love Vienna, For anyone interested in perfect bespoke hats, you MUST look up Szasz-hats at Mariahilferstrasse 4-6. To see this workshop that´s more like a museum of imperial workmanship, with all th old steam-presses and wooden and iron forms, (They are being used!)...

    The best hats around...

A hat (if I were in to wearing them) would be the only thing I would NOT buy over the internet. As yachtie indicated, it has to fit your face. Trying them on in the mirror is the only sure way of getting the right fit for your face. You can go back and forth with the postal service too though...

    Summer Hats

+1 on the Gucci Monogram... I am pretty sure the one in the picture is authentic so it must be timeless. But I everything is fake so it might not be. The tags inside are not so easy to fake - so it looks quite the real thing - nice!

    Summer Hats

What exactly is a boater? Got a pic or link? Much appreciated... Hi, Smoke Stack A boater is a perfectly round hat, both in crown (with a flat top) and brim, normally made out of straw in a light beige or white color with a navy blue band. At the turn of the century it used to be a sailor´s...

    Summer Hats

Well they're not $1400... more like $200-$800 with the straws generally being on the lower end Dear Kit Akira, I don´t know where you were looking or what kind of straw hats you mean. The "real thing" costs much more than $1400. Good Panama hats from Ecuador, made of the Carludovica Palmata...

Is a hat ''stylish'' also in this century?

Hello Sator, As a matter of fact I do have an incredible hatter in Vienna. The store is called Szaszi-Hüte and is at Mariahilferstrasse 4-6. They make almost ONLY bespoke hats. The workshop is most interesting, like a museum with all these 150 year old implements but the owner will treat you...

Is a hat ''stylish'' also in this century?

To all gentlemen out thre, I´m a new member of the forum, private and work-related fashion addict. It was very interesting to read your opinions on hats - being a big lover of hats myself. I own quite a few myself and they delight me and my family. Hats are everything you say, yet a lot more...
