As I suppose you speak of watch strap, my take is that it depends of the watch thickness. For example the original croc strap (always been replaced with the identical model) of my Piaget (that is less than 3mm thickness) seems to have almost no padding and is very thin. Same, seen Shogun one episode/week and really liked it. Didn’t mind Jarvis much because finally on the contrary to the first series he isn’t the principal character (imo). Very nice find ! Is it a side effect of Covid/Lockdowns, but like I almost never wear CM clothing now, I don’t wear much formal shoes either, and only bought various sneakers for a couple of years… So my everyday shoe is 70% of the time a sneaker/sport shoe.
