    Linen Safari Jacket

Very nice, especially as you wear them without the belt that is very dated imho. This style called « saharienne » here, was very popular when I was a kid in the 70s. Don’t own one but wear jungle jackets, that are more casual.

Do you know the first (1960) adaptation? Highly recommended.

Super nice. I loved Arnys, their shop was bought by Berluti that installed their main shop there. They had kept a very small Arnys corner inside, that I think was only for MtM stuff, I am not sure it still exists. Sometimes you can find an item second hand, like this one apparently, that apart...

What TV Series Are You Streaming Lately?

One episode left in Shogun… In episode 9, Mariko, definitely the main character (and that’s what makes the difference with the previous version) thanks to her back story, has been killed by an explosion in a shinobi (ninja) attack. I wondered if there be would be a ninja attack, that was one of...

Things are not like they used to be. So yes you can wear what you want. In the time in the real fancy restaurants, they had a choice of ties for you if you had forgot to wear one… CLOSSEAU ?

Wouldn’t wear that kind of jacket in a fancy dinner. This is another good brand for chore coats, if you really want one. Vetra (for vêtement travail : work wear). https://www.vetra.fr/fr/

Material, detailing, cut ?… Here’s an old one I have by Kenzo. Also have a couple by Hollington but they are in the cellar. Another brand that was great, but for sack jackets, « Ivy a la française » was JKeydge. Also have a couple.

Tbh don’t see any in my neighborhood. You have smarter versions though, often in cord, more the kind the painters (not house painter) wore. I have a couple. BTW Hollington is very typical intellectual parisian, they used to have those kind of garments, probably still have...

Yep blue, we called them bleu de travail. Not many chances you’ll see any French (even less real parisiens) wearing one nowadays, like berets. You can often see me with a baguette 🥖 though if you want to take a picture.

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Of course this watch is somehow reminiscent of a famous Salvador Dali’s painting. If you like it why not. Some others here too I think. I would say that it’s a watch for a watch collector who already has a lot of watches, and is a bit jaded. So especially looking for originality and rarity. I...

    WAYWRN: Classic Menswear, Casual Style

The problem is that nobody cares but you about your opinion, and that you have zero credibility as you never posted a fit pic. As you said it is not the first time it is mentioned, the problem is that you don’t seem to understand and that SF is flooded with your unsolicited, and above all...

And what about the VC and its 63 complications ? Can’t really draw a parallel, but I like the idea that mine is more than a hundred year older.

Buying classic fit Harrington jacket in 2024

Yes I wanted to say that Grenfell Harringtons are roomier. @Man-of-Mystery got a contemporary one, and also a vintage Baracuta with a classic fit, maybe he could compare. At the moment, I have two Baracutas G9, both made in England, a cotton outer slimfit one and a polycotton contemporary one...
