Shovel is pretty standard technique. Versus a human, a snake is on defense. It's not gonna pursue you. So an overhand swing of the shovel should be fine. Unless you're a girlyman and prone to missing, falling forward, getting bitten on the face.

Even if you cut the head off - watch out!

It's certainly doable, but I see no reason to take a risk when I can dispose of it by moving my index finger a half inch and give it a swift death.

I second the shovel. Friendly advice, don't try to shoot a snake with a P99.

I don't know how people can live in places where you can find a poisonous snake in your backyard. The thought of that just scares the bejeesus out of me. I'd have built a triple electric fence with laser beams attached to motion sensors.

BTW, snakes love bamboo.

I killed several in my backyard growing up. Usually used a garden rack or shovel. At that age you feel fairly invincible and I don't think I was ever in any real danger. Once we moved into the city I didn't see them around anymore.

FWIW, I was more worried about the centipedes that would turn up on occasion. Those things would get rather large but easy enough to miss when walking in the lawn.

Very nice.

Does that fireplace work?

Unfortunately some earlier owner decided it was a good idea to seal it. It can be reopened but we never deemed it worth the cost.

That's a lot of greenery.

Probably one of the major reasons we're selling it right now is that my better half wants a garden.

@EFV
