Common wisdom is that suede fares badly in rain. I’ve read a number of articles in knowledgeable places like Permanent Style that argue that in fact the opposite is true: suede survives a downpour better than calf. Dear community I recently bought a pair of loafers made on the Carlos Santos 401 last. I love the fit: snug in the heel and wide in the toes, which is perfect for me. You’re right. They have very good marketing copy but very little factual information. It suggests they are targeting a general low-info consumer rather than a high-info menswear forum type… but which of those is buying sports coats online??- Naughton
