Oh my. Do I buy now to secure my pair or wait for wider release?
I like grey boots, I dunno if they're popular enough to sell out though. I'd consider these if I didn't do a Parkhurst MTO of their Nighthawk that should be here soon. I don't need 2 grey service boots.

A bourbon (horsebutt) afternoon. Complete with different lace-up pattern, sigh.

How do you guys decide between these brands? I had never heard of parkhurst but looked up the nighthawk and would rather have a service boot. Is cost the only factor?

Viberg is way above Parkhurst. I MTO'd my nighthawk to have a toecap and it resembles more of a traditional service boot. While I like gray boots, it's not a color I really want to spend money on if that makes sense? I'd drop 1300 without thinking on a Viberg color 4 SB at this point, same for a black shell halkett SB. Gray not so much.

If you’re at Viberg level, I don’t see how you would be satisfied with parkhurst ?

Sure, they are not Vibergs at somewhere at half the cost. But they have some really cool makeups and the QC is pretty darn good, they are sleek with a nice profile. What I like about them is the weight - they are a lighter build and great for the warmer weather here in California. I have 5 Vibergs, some Alden, C&J but I also dig Parkhurst, Grant Stone and Taft. Keeps it fun when you have some boots you love that you got brand new in $250-400 range.

I'm pretty much a Viberg maximalist although I did go way out of left field for a pair of Dehners this summer. I expect I'm only likely to step out if I need something dressier. For me the biggest thing is how well-built and supportive they are and I feel like the interior build is usually the first thing brands skimp on to get costs down. I have back/hip issues so now that I've found something that works I think I'm fairly unlikely to move back downmarket.

Anyone have any updates through the grapevine on sample sale or upcoming MTO events? I know there were rumblings not so long ago...

When I asked Viberg on instagram they dodged the question so take that as you will. They happily answered inquiries on MTOs being stopped for the time being, Halkett, Ammunition and Trench boots as well as sizing advice. They won't answer about sample sale though.

Riffing off your answer, what exactly is distinct about the Halkett Pattern? I've read something about narrow lacing, but I don't see it. And I didn't realize the ammunition pattern was available for MTO. That's great
