Pretty warm most of the time in this part of Australia but it’s nice to get the chance to layer a few weeks in the year.

I picked up a Drake's Cotton Canvas Games Blazer Mk II in Navy (SS23) at a great price second hand. I was looking for the matching trousers, but I noticed that the shade of navy for the newest season pair of Cotton Canvas Games trousers is different (it is a slightly lighter/dustier navy).

I'd like to trousers that match in terms of fabric and colour. Short of scouring eBay for an old season pair, any suggestions for possible substitutes?

I’ve been there twice now and unsuccessfully tried myself through 3 or 4 eBay and new season pairs (important to factor in that color deviations may be one of the major reasons things end up on seconds sales and market places).

Sure, it’s worth a shot if you find really good deals on the given trousers. Nonetheless I’m convinced by now that the most affordable route would be to reach out to Drake‘s and hope that they’ll be able to do an MTO pair.

I see! I'm not too annoyed as the jacket works very well as a separate. How much would MTO set you back?

No idea, sorry, I haven’t done it yet. The Drake‘s team are super responsive and forthcoming though in my experience, so you could just ask their email support

I had the same problem (also purchased a SS23 navy Games blazer and also went looking for the matching trousers in 2024 after I decided I should have sized up on the trousers to get that slouch) and at the Savile Row store they told me they won't be able to match it again, as each year the range is garment-dyed and so they will always have variations in the colour from year to year. They don't have a bolt of SS23 navy cloth anywhere they could cut a new pair of MTO trousers again.

Even worse, I've been told at the Savile Row store that they don't do MTO Games suits, only their sartorial line.

Out of interest, do you know if they print the year and season on an inner label of the Games trouser? It would making hunting a pair down easier as not all sellers know which year its purchased from.

Why from anywhere else? Genuinely curious. It's much cheaper to buy it here in the UK from Drake's as opposed to other retailers like Clutch Cafe.

I wonder if it'd be worth reaching out to a place like Gentleman's Footwear. I believe they stock older seasons of Drake's and if memory serves they had the cotton canvas Games trousers in blue. Steve there would know what season it's from I imagine (they should still have the tags on them)

I wish Drake's would still offer overshirts.

Ah this is disappointing to hear. I've wanted a Games suit for the longest time but the jackets are just a little too long for me

Funny you say this. Some of favorite Drakes pieces are their over shirts….

A few years ago, one of their online drops did not include any over shirts. I happened to be in the shop a few days after the online drop and mentioned this…. The gents in the shop said they were coming soon and “we’ll never NOT have over shirts in our seasonal drops”

Yeah. I've had several over the years. Chambray, corduroy, linen. Sold some, kept some. Always thinking they'd be available and in arm's reach.
