How does the fit of those pants compare to the OD ones this year w/ the pocket on the front left thigh. (I believe I have seen you wearing those as well)
Cut is fairly different. The carpenter ones are much fuller leg vs tapered leg for the olive ones. I got the same size.

Are they vanity sized in the waist? I usually like a 32-32.5" waist and was thinking I would go size 30 or 31.. if they come back in stock

Question. Clothes from a different brand called "Filson" have been popping up on my instagram feed lately, probably because I've started following and liking related content. Never heard of the brand before. Looked into it and I dig the style, reminds me of RRL. So I am curious about your general thoughts and opinions about that brand; do you own pieces from it? Do you consider it similar to RRL in design and quality (of perhaps even better)?

I am discovering too much stuff too fast, I already have enough expensive hobbies! 😅
I hope your being sarcastic

I've had a few jackets from Filson- good quality stuff, although they have recently moved most production overseas which has bothered many fans of the brand. Tin cloth and mackinaw wool are definitely the highlights. Easily slots in with RRL vibe. Be aware that most of this stuff fits a size larger. Also have a rugged twill briefcase that I love which is my everyday bag. I'd say stick to their outerwear and bags and try to buy secondhand or during sales which have been happening lately with much greater frequency.

Filson is a Seattle company started in the late 1800s around the time of the Alaska gold rush. Their signature items are tin cloth bags and jackets. A lot of their production has been moved off short but some tin cloth items and wool jackets are still made locally. Quality of their stuff including the imported is pretty solid but some of the designs are somewhat lacking IMHO.

I know someone who used to work there and he was a source of a lot of discounted Filson items over the years. I'd recommend taking a look at the Mackinaw wool cruiser jackets or maybe the tin cloth ones. Even the Mackinaw jac-shirts are fairly heavy weight.

There's a thread in Classic Menswear devoted to just tin cloth bags. I think consensus is the newest bags aren't as thick and rugged. I've got a few older bags and tbh they're a bit heavy to use as a carry on.

Some Filson pics I've posted. All the jackets are Filson. Most everything runs big although strangely, not the short lined tin cloth cruiser shown below.

Filson gear is mandatory for PNW cos-play.

Short lined tin cloth cruiser.

Thanks for the extensive write-ups @jmiller123 & @zippyh (love all those jackets!), really appreciate the time you've taken to reply. Good to know not all their stuff is locally made anymore – that's what I thought after reading all those instagram posts.

I'll definitely look into this brand further after reading your comments. Their jackets attract me the most; this wool-lined denim cruiser is what first caught my eye. It looks rugged, stylish, and comfy:

@kurdo since you're exploring RRL adjacent things, check out Dehen. They're a Portland Oregon company that mostly do knits but also known for their varsity jackets. Their sweaters are mostly just solid colors but very thick and heavy weight. I have a flight club jacket with shearling collar which is super nice.
