Does anyone have tips for darkening a pair of 405s without darkening the moc toe stitching?

I've recently purchase a pair of early 2000s cotton duck-lined 405s that are just a bit too light/orange for my tastes after years of wearing the 403.
How much darker are you trying to get them? Maybe can start with something easy like neutral color mink oil and see if that darkens the leather.

CXL V-tips on 379x. Very well-worn but I like the color they’ve attained

Does anyone still sell the unlined LHS loafer? Want a black one but looks like once BB x Alden stopped it disappeared :(

Speaking of loafers, anyone got any suggestions on Aberdeen sizing? For non-loafers, Barrie/TB size is 7 EEE / 7.5 EE. In Aberdeen loafers, I've tried 7EEE (a little too snug) and 7.5EEE (a little too loose). Any suggestions?

I would go with your barrie size plus a half (7.5EEE) and use a tongue pad. I felt the same way with my shell tassel loafer on aberdeen. The tongue pad makes them perfect and has lasted effectively for years.

Yeah Joe, a little loose and you can use an insole (thick or thin). I prefer to run all my shoes with a cushioned insole now.

Anyone with any info on this model? Inside writing says “7188”, but nothing comes up when I look it up on google. It looks like a leisure hand sewn loafer but it has what looks like a double stack sole with Alden branded rubber bottom.

The inside is also stamped Alden San Francisco. Can’t tell if it’s calf skin or cxl.

Yeah that’s what I thought too, just the style code was different and the double stack outsole. I’m thinking this may have been a San Francisco exclusive model that stuck a double stuck rubber sole on a brown cxl lhs.
