I've read alot on these forums about charcoal vs. navy suits and solids vs. striped suits. My question is: When are tan suits appropriate? Is is acceptable to wear a tan suit to work, in the evenging? Are they only meant to be worn in the summer? I rarely see anyone wearing a tan suit in the winter months.

Personally, I would only wear one in the summer or maybe late spring. Would depend on the weight of the cloth and the shade of tan though.

Same here. I think they look great spring/summer.

I have a tan gabardine and will wear it year-round -- it is surprisingly heavy cloth. It is a rather darkish tan.

I have a tan suit that I'll wear in late spring and summer. In California summer may stretch to October, but I'll put it away in september as a rule.

Same as others. Tan is nice on a warm evening. I had a tan worsted suit that I adored for just these occasions till my wife, with the flick of her wrist, ruined it with a glass of Merlot. I know that gabardine is a popular material with this hue, as one of the earlier posters mentioned he had.
