Just checking in the SB3's haven't been shelved for the season? Any pics of the tweed to be used would be very warmly welcomed. Also I don't think I explicitly said it but please let me know when they do land.

Will do!

They haven't been shelved, no. We have the truckers to finish, then the greatcoat and the duffle coat, *and then* we'll get cracking with them.

Sorry, no — we don't have any cloth left over for that. We did it last year for the Styleforum special edition but the belt was factored into the cutting of the coats as part of the overall plan.

Thanks Paul,

I'm still interested in the blue variation, but unsure on sizing. I understand it is true to size, but I'm torn on whether I should go xs or s.

I'm somewhere in between both in terns of the chart.

I suppose it depends on what kind of look you want to go for, as well as your body shape. I can only share my experience of ordering my one last year. I usually go for a L as I have broad shoulders. However since I’m otherwise quite skinny the balmacaan felt way too big for me when I originally ordered an L, my M I replaced it with is much better, it fits my shoulders well and is plenty roomy without feeling like I was swamped by it like the L felt. Then again I usually go for a slightly slimmer look than sometimes I’ve noticed other sehk customers on here go for. My instinct if you’re in between sizes would be to recommend the smaller one. Others/ most importantly Paul might disagree though 🤷‍♀️

edit: now that I can see Paul gave the opposite advice, I apologise for bringing added confusion!

Personally, I'd future-proof your decision — vis a vis the likely positive correlation between "passing of time" and "girth of belly" — by going up a size.

I tend also to think that raglan overcoats look better larger rather than smaller.

Sure, yes -- it's the duffle coat but a few inches longer, and made with the incredible aggressive battle-cloth known as Herdwick tweed (https://www.sehkelly.com/words/2021/07/like-tweed-used-to-be/).

We used the same cloth last year for the trench coat and waistcoat (https://www.sehkelly.com/waistcoat-in-herdwick-tweed-in-dark-sheep/).
Oh no…. I bought that trench coat in that tweed last year…

it’s a great tweed though, just don’t want to have 2 coats in the same material.

Oh right, yes. The cloth is slightly different this year, mostly just in colour, because of the very natural and organic and human nature of its production. But very much the same material, it is true.

I’d love to see a side by side comparison if possible (this year and last years’ herd wick tweed) thanks!

Hi!

Will the "old" colours (brown and grey) of the Balmacaan be restocked?

No — there are no plans for that, although since we draw from quite a narrow palette with that particular tweed, something similar might come around again some day. More likely I think is the tweed (in those colours or others) is used for other coats in future years.

I as well prefer a slimmer cut, but not to slim as to mess with feng shui of a balmacaan.

Appreciate all the advice. Regarding the sizing change, is this years run slimmer overall as opposed to the previous year?
