So I was dabbling a little with quality shoes over the past two years and I grew to be fond with Meermin, but over the past five months, I have purchased a pair of Ace Marks oxfords on eBay that were new and came with a brush, shoelaces, shoehorn, etc. for around $120. The leather felt dry, so I used conditioner and it still felt the same way. Furthermore, the color in certain spots is beginning to fade away (I wore it only twice), and the actual leather felt very flimsy and "off ", even though it was full-grain. The shoes fit me perfectly, but despite this, I learned my lesson on buying shoes on eBay. I am just curious if anybody else experienced something like this with this brand? I believe these shoes were just promotional giveaways when Ace marks was still a kick-starter, but overall I feel I will not keep these shoes for long.

Yea, I do remember when Ace Marks was hyped up by menswear "influencers", even gentleman's gazette, which influenced my curiosity into getting this brand, but I can say the leather is surprisingly iffy!

Well everyone starts somewhere. I personally started with Beckett Simonon at at around USD 140 a pair of Oxfords, before moving up to the better known brands. I thought they were decent value for money and quite OK as a starting point into menswear - though of course quality is always commensurate with the price. I was not aware of too many other brands at the time and accessibility was also an issue.

Overall, as a starter shoe, I guess these are passable. No personal experience with Ace Marks though though I would assume it is something in the similar construction bracket.
