Putting a satin stripe on tux trousers?

Potentially dumb, yet important question... I've uncovered a good deal on a Viktor & Rolf tuxedo, the fit is fantastic, just one hold up... the pants don't have a satin stripe down the side. the waist band is satin, but nothing else... Go figure. Can a tailor match a fabric against the satin on the waist and just plop a stripe on, or is this a futile effort? Or is the trouser stripe even that big of a deal? I am getting this for my January wedding, and also for future formal military events*, so I don't want to look like a putz in either setting. I'm not stuck with the tux, so if returning is the best option, I can do so. *Ah, to be the military wife...

Shouldn't be to difficult a job, make sure you are confident in the tailor, as it is more complicated than say letting out sides. It has to be attached so that it does not constrict the drape of the pants. Also, you might check into what will happen to the satin stripe when you have the trouser dry cleaned. I don't know if it would be subject to any shrinkage. Clothing is always sponged to preshrink. If it shrinks a differing amount than the trouser you will have a problem.

Matching the satin should not be a problem, especially since they two are not right next ot each other.

Not sure about the shrinkage issue, but unless you are getting the thing cleaned a lot (and it can't need it more than once a year can it?) I can't see it being a biggy.

As for matching the waistband, who's going to see it outside the bedroom? Surely it will be covered at all times by cummerbund/waistcoat/closed jacket?

Incidentally, has anyone got a handy pic of the satin waistband thing? I don't think I've ever seen it, and I thought I'd seen a fair few pairs of evening trousers.

But then since I think the waistband should always be covered, what do I know?
