Pairing Options for Lower-Rise Japanese Selvage Jeans

Even though I love the Ivy look, I have some very high-quality Japanese selvedge jeans from a few years ago that have a lower rise than what you see with the Ivy look. I'm curious about what others pair with lower-rise jeans. A T-shirt or a tucked-in Oxford shirt? I would also love to know what you absolutely avoid pairing them with.

I only wear low rise jeans. For my build more than style.
I mainly pair them with polos and occasionally a Western shirt.
