Good news?
Netflix dropped a giant pile of cash on this and it was... fine, I guess. I'm curious if they'll scale back or double down, since it's my understanding that adapting the second book will require even more special effects, and for a show that reportedly cost 20 million per episode, the effects in the first season were not good.

I’m officially calling X-Men 97 the best project we have seen from Disney since they bought Marvel.

Yeah, I enjoyed it but was not "wowed." Just a good show, nothing to get excited about.

They really swung for the fences with that finale, and keep hitting dingers. Set up three huge plotlines for future seasons?

Great show.

Ugh. Fine. You nerds have convinced me to give the show a try. On two conditions, though- do I need to watch the first show from the 90s, and do I need to read one of those excessively detailed history of the X- Men fan pages to know what's going on?

Nah. Helps if you're vaguely familiar with the Phoenix plotline but you don't need to know all the details.

Nope. I watched it when it came out but barely remember any of it since I haven’t watched it since then. You are fine.

I fear that this will be to the Dune cinematic universe as the Rings of Power series is to the LoTR films. An execrable blemish, mostly.
It's HBO so they're somewhat less likely to catastrophically screw it up.

Two good pieces on Rings of Power. I’m going to watch the first season again this summer.
