wesco’s nice but… that price.
the tcx hero boots don’t look that bad - i’ll keep on looking and circle back.
They're definitely an investment. I was looking for something that was made in the states and didn't have laces that could get stuck in an open primary or the drive chain, and these were definitely the best option, in my opinion.

Welp, I took the Scrambler out for one last ride last month. After two years I realized I’ve only taken it offroad 4 times (and at 1200 it’s extremely over powered and heavy for fun offroading) and put way more miles on the highway. Also, on most bikes my wife would only be able to sit on the back for a couple hours before she leaning forward to hug me for uncomfortable, so I wanted a big cruiser.

We took the BMW B18 Transcontinental out for a 1 hour test ride and man, what a comfortable ride. Less throaty than a Harley but still has a formidable roar. At 1800cc it’s massive and weighs a ton, but with all sorts of metal & chrome, she’s luxurious and has all sorts of technical wizardry like cruise control, navigation, and tons of trunk space for longer trips. I can take it on all day rides with the missus on the back and she loves the comfortable heated seat. Did I mention it’s got a Roland stereo system with 6 speakers? I traded in the Scrambler & swapped bikes.

For those interested in a cruiser, I’d seriously look into the BMWs. They aren’t selling because the typical BMW riders aren’t interested in them, and Harley riders generally want US made bikes, so some places have slashed prices by 25-30%.

The bummer thing is now I need a city bike. Thinking of the Royal Enfield Classic 350 (for pure city riding) or the Continental GT 650 (for the weekend twisties).

Definitely a beautiful bike, congratulations! I actually bought my R Nine T Scrambler after going to dealer to test a 2021 R18. Long story short, although I loved the look of the R18, wasn't a good fit for me in a few areas. Think this will definitely work well for you in convincing your riding partner to join you more often!

That’s the hardest part. My dad bought my mom a Can Sam Spyder to fix this. They’re actually pretty fun, I did about 5 hours on one.

I have hated Can-Am Spyders with a passion since I first saw them on the road. However, about a month ago, a guy at a bar said I could take his for a spin and told me to really get after it. I smoked the tires, drifted around corners, and had an absolute blast.

Yes, a good friend of mine went same route, and they love theirs. They actually don't look all that bad, and I've heard the ride is almost like the feel of a bike but the comfort (and some of the safety) of an automobile

Bought a 2023 Trident 660 as my first bike that’s actually mine. Installing frame sliders, radiator grille, engine cover guard, and foldable levers today. Quick shifter will be installed after I get better with shifting regularly.

Went overboard with another $2,500 in riding gear that’s all CE Level 2 and AAA rated.

I had forgotten this thread existed! Not getting many miles this year at all, but planning a ride out to Terlingua sooner rather than later. Probably do that one on HD, mainly because Scrambler lacks a windshield, whereas Harley at least has detachable windshield and sissy bar. Planning on buying a latish model of Forty-Eight, since it looks like HD has discontinued the line, and having owned 3 of them since 2010, it is one of my favorites of any bike they've ever made

My son and I just got home from the 2023 Giant Loop Ride in Crane/Burns, Oregon. We spent three days riding around on our dual sports (CRF250Ls) in the wide open spaces of Eastern Oregon. It was a great time. I'm pretty beat, though. Time for bed!

Nice! Trying to coordinate a one-weeker from east-TX down to Big Bend/Terlingua myself. Getting hot as balls out there though, so may have missed my window

Please post an update on your experience when you get a chance. That bike is on my short list for next purchase.

I’ve only put about 500 miles on it, but I don’t have any complaints other than naked bikes have no storage. The power delivery is very smooth, it’s linear and pulls to 80-90 without problem. Good low-end torque. The bike feels incredibly light and nimble to me. Brakes are good too. I’ve seen complaints about the rear shock, but I’m about 210lbs and it’s not crashy to me.

It’s more refined than at MT-07. You’ll get front wheel life if you go open throttle in first and second, but it’s minimal. I think they tuned it to be more approachable and forgiving for newer riders.

It's pretty cool for people watching and seeing other bikes. Last year in LA, we were parading 20-30 mph through the city with a police escort but it was on a hot day so all the stopping and going was annoying in the suit. It was cool to support the cause and see the community but my favorite riding memories have been on longer trips. I'm skipping it this year

Also, wanted to share that I brought home this (new to me) XR1200. A significant riding experience improvement over my SCR, I'm planning to keep both.

Hey there!
Mind sharing your thoughts of the XR1200?
