I’m not really into these pale translucent frame colours like seed and sand etc but those ruby lenses don’t half pump up the volume of the overall look. Are you gonna do likewise with yours? Those stock lenses would be worthless to me as sunglasses.

I hear you, today was sunny in Berlin and the stock lenses merely provided some protection.
On the other hand I tend to preserve a model as it originally is, so the lighter lenses will have use in overcast weather. My Ichikawa Sand, instead, could get custom lenses, have still to decide which ones.

Posting my small collection here. I am extremely proud of it, and every frame I've acquired is grail-like to me. I tend to gravitate towards classic frames. The litmus/vibe test is if I can envision myself wearing the frame as I drive a Mercedes 230sl through the sun-soaked south of France.

I was late to the JMM game, only purchasing my first pair in June of 2023. I feel fortunate to have been able to find some these hard-to-find pieces, whether from my own merit or with the help of others.

Plaza in Agar
Julien in Ochre
Devaux in Beluga
Schindler in Vintage Tort

I will dissent, I really like the shape and find it quirky and distinctive.
I was so in love with these and wanted to get them badly! Was waiting on fit pics, but finally decided on going to my local AD who just got them to try em on and buy em!

Then i tried them on… 😬 yeah, unfortunately sigh.. didn’t work for me. Looked like super hero 🦸🏻‍♂️ goggles on me ..

I mean in retrospect as sunglasses they would actually work well, as clear optical i just didn’t like the fit on me. Sadly had to pass… i wanted to love them.. so sheer disappointment…but hopefully they work for others. Its still a lovely frame just tge way it sat on my face personally just wasnt pleasing.

I’ve said over and over that frames which look good as sunglasses often don’t look good as opticals. Maybe the Richards fall into that category. Once again:

Aviator shades - Maverick, Redford, US prison camp guards, etc.
Aviator opticals - David Koresh, Jeffrey Dahmer
Wayfarer shades - Jack Nicholson, JFK, Audrey Hepburn
Wayfarer opticals - Austin Powers, Buddy Holly, nerds
