Hi All,

Recently took up a new job which will see me going on extended business trips (10 days or so) internationally. I will need to check a bag given the length of trip and needs on the ground, but also need to be able to hedge against baggage delays by taking a carryon that covers me for the first day of formal business meetings. As long as I can cover the first day of business dress, I can figure out the rest when on the ground.

At the same time, traveling with colleagues in cars with limited space while in country, I need to watch luggage, so need to keep things to 1 upright rolling suitcase that I have + a carryon bag that can fit:

1 pair dress shoes (I’m a US 13, so they’re on the larger size)

A suit or slacks/jacket

Dress shirt

My laptop and ipad (which I carry around in a Tumi slimline briefcase that I can put in the carryon or suitcase)

Passport/travel docs.

I have the suitcase, but looking for tips on the carryon. The carryon roller with telescoping handles I usually use for short trips when flying on shorter trips is a bit bulky because of the hardware when combined with the suitcase, and not ideal for accessing the laptop/ipad.

Two things I’m considering are:

1) A simple Filson duffle (small or medium -- any thoughts on how they compare?)

2) The S C Holdall from Bennet Winch (https://www.bennettwinch.com/collections/the-s-c-holdall)

Any feedback on the above or suggestions appreciated.
