Yep. Love it and always have a bottle on hand.

That said, as soon as i read your response, I remembered its been a year or more since I saw this on shelves. Might have been there, and I wasn't looking for it, but wonder if it is starting to dry up also. In other news, the guy in the whiskey aisle who almost always puts me on to new stuff that I end up loving, put me on to a rye from New Riff Distilling that I really just did not like. Not sure what it was, since I generally always appreciate rye, but this one was just not very good at all. Anyone else try anything from these guys?

Fancy-garden-party at the boss's house. Bourbon bar was a hit. 10 bottles of top shelf whiskey to commemorate 10 years in business.

Other bars available for the non-whiskey-drinkers.

Which New Riff Rye did they recommend? I assume their standard Rye or a Single Barrel Rye?

I'm a big fan of New Riff's experimental and heirloom grain products, but do agree their core rye leaves a bit to be desired. If you have access to it locally, I'd recommend their Balboa Rye or Malted Rye. If you like finished whiskey, they also have a Sherry Cask finished Malted Rye, although it'd be pretty tough to find a bottle of it nowadays, as it was a limited release a couple years ago.

Was going to mention the Balboa and Malted Rye. I enjoyed both of those. But, as everyone's palate differs, I've never been a big fan of Eagle Rare or Buffalo Trace.

I know a lot of people like New Riff, but I've never been super impressed. That being said, the Balboa Rye is supposed to be great - I havent tried it yet.

I think they switched over to their own distillate now - they were using MGP for a while.

So I decided to pick up a Single Barrel of the New Riff. Hoping its better than the rye.

Ok, so broke my self-imposed, no alcohol during the week mandate, to try the New Riff Single Barrel bourbon. Was not bad, far better bourbon than their rye.

Not a high bar to cross. I've never had a rye that I thought was any good. Sort of like IPA beers.

Now you just haven't tried the right one! Dickel did a collaboration with Leopold that was just truly fantastic whiskey, fairly widely available:

Also, Balcones makes one hell of an overproof rye that actually is the perfect complement to peaches, go figure.

True. I've only tried less than 10 in my life and hated every single one.

I’ve never tasted, but CYPB has high marks and is super rare. Would fetch the highest resale. All the rest listed there arent much. The Antique 107 would probably rate a little higher than the 12. Havent heard much on the full proof and didnt hear great things about the Single Barrel.
