So I've finally settled on a topic for this weeks FC. One of the first things you hear when you join SF is that a jacket should always be darker than trousers. I have always thought this to be utter BS, and my goal for this week's challenge it to disprove this once and for all. So the premise for the FC this week is very simple: Wear a jacket that is visibly lighter than your trousers. It can be patterned or plain, I don't care as long as the trousers as darker than jacket. Fits from this week will be allowed, and the poll goes up Sunday morning, Swedish time (so around midnight PST). That guy to the left:

Northern lights from the south of Sweden.
DonCologne:
Get this Oxxford clothes sports coat today. Sleeves are 1 inch too long and will be shorten soon.
SeaJen:
I toyed with a grays fit inspired by one from RedDevil a little while ago, but given the frigid temperatures, I opted for the warmth of cashmere. The jacket is not light, but certainly lighter than the chocolate brown flannels.
Jacket: Caruso for Barneys pure cashmere Shirt: Barba Napoli Tie: Brooks Brothers silk knit Pants: Loro Piana wool/cashmere Shoes: AE MacNeil shell

Blue Shirt, despite the picture making it look purple. Tie is in fact Purple. I may keep this as my entry, we'll see. Here's todays: Two different cameras, sorry. .

Here's my shot at it. Although I don't want the burdens that come with "winning" this competition, I don't think there's much risk of that. Crappy cell phone pictures below...

x-post WAYWRN - for the challenge, then . . .
stylesbitchly:
Apparently my Friday fit meets the criteria for the challenge this week. Pretty tame submission. I'm in Indianapolis for a meeting so I have to be conservative.

more good stuff today, gents! i really wanted to do something awesome for this, and i had a great fit planned, but the weather has really held me back. so im posting this from earlier this week. i generally dont like to post fits in the FC that i dont reeeeallly love, but this is what i have available, and i cant resist playing in a FC. :( plus pingson hates it, so its extra fun to post it in his challenge. derp.

Is that SC Paul Stuart? Because I had one nearly identical until I recently sold it on ebay.
really cool SC, SVB. nice to see you playing in the MC FC.
Drool is right. Wow. I'm exercising my prerogative and substituting this fit, which I think is better. Edited previous post to spoiler all pics.

Really interesting stuff this week. Here's my entry if for no other reason than these cashmere RLPL pants are like wearing little glen plaid clouds:
Holdfast:
As williamson adroitly pointed out in the WAYWRN thread, Northern Lights are more usually green than brown, so I'm going to go with this fit from today as my official entry rather than the brown-themed one I wore yesterday. :D
Academic2:
This is getting more intimidating by the minute. Honestly, I could give a thumbs up to all of them. Such good stuff that I’m going to post now before even more good stuff shows up. Otherwise I’d chicken out. Going casual. Goal 1: stay warm (camel hair, very heavy one-of-a-kind hand-made cable knit boat neck sweater, actually worn on a real boat); goal 2: get at least one vote. (I can live with one out of two). Thank,s all. Have a good weekend. Cheers, Ac
An Acute Style:
My entry. Navy blue pants and camel jacket. Bonus points for overcoat? It's extremely cold and snowy in NYC this week hence the cardigan and boots.
kulata:
My entry, decided to make it 4 patterns. Hope it works :)

sansimeon:
Well this didn't really work out as planned.. I put together a fit including a pair of charcoal flannels that I rarely use and took some pictures this morning, but after seeing the pics I realized they were simply too tight to use and had to change pants. Instead, this is what I'll be wearing tonight. Perhaps a bit too casual for the thread. Gray jacket and navy pants, breaking all sf rules :) (Jacket is short, tight and would benefit from a lower buttoning point, I know. Still kinda like it though)
Butler:
Although it does not quite come out that way in the shot, the Cording trousers are definitely darker than the Cashmere, no vent coat with suede accents, by Steven Hitchcock - Monks by Lobb, checked shirt by Sean O¨Flynn, BB PS :bigstar: And no, that' not a Windsor, just a bulky Cashmere tie :bigstar:

I'm assuming that you mean that the trousers should be visibly darker than the jacket?

Great idea. I'm not sure whether I'll be able to participate, but I look forward to seeing the entries!

Hi all, I'm new to SF, can someone please explain how these challenges work?  Has Pingson set the challenge as he won last week?

Thanks :)

Yes, the "prize" of winning is to decide next week's challenge as well as administer the whole thing, so it's more of a Pyrrhic victory than anything else......

Now I need to get a SC, just so I can do this challenge. I have navy trousers with nothing to go with them. This could be my reason!

Then you could kill two "SF birds" with one stone, navy trousers and a lighter jacket. That should give you some bonus points.....

Looking forward to seeing all the entries. Alas, I am travelling with only two suits, flannel trousers and a brown tweed jacket so will be unable to participate. May provide some inspiration for light colored F/W jackets for me to consider at some point.
