A pair of old Bates - Shell or not shell?
I need some assistance verifying whether this pair of Bates shoes is shell cordovan or the ill corfram. My gut tells me it's shell but after perusing through the net for assistance, I haven't come up with any Bates monk-strap shoes in shell.- masernaut

I did a quick Internet search on horse leather and it was hard to find the answer I was looking for. I am looking at a pair of boots in China and these are made from horse leather, not shell cordovan.
