    Just out of interest .... At £737 .....just wanted to check this out with others: Perth (handgrade) is not far off this price....and presumably higher grade leather. Never tired it but anyone has any experience of those?

    Sorry another thought apols - kudu or deer or even goat skin leather. Any experience in this? Seen a lot from Cheney's & Trickers but I am guessing it's cheaper leather so the others don't use. Ask for possible gmto ideas.

    Thanks. On another note - was reading above on some disgruntled forum posters about the quality of their mto orders. What is c& j like in general then? Also do they do bellows nicely??

    Sorry but does that mean if ONE person does a MTO (special size or colour etc.) then that's the £300 extra but in this case it's prices (690 /660 depending on numbers). Half bellows is complete no brainer with outdoor boots. No idea why CJ doesn't do that as standard. I think only the Snowdon...

    How do you mean by the shaft? Where your ankles are? Also are they new? I mean look at it - it's one piece there or one piece around the vamp and heal. Unless you try to shrink the leather through water (NOT recommended at all) ...then that's to do with sizing for that particular last. Shoe...

    That's really interesting about the sole /heal. Did you send it back? As you intimate it's not exactly cheap and they go on about how well he repair. The original last does help in folding the leather over it's shape completely giving it a chance to be repaired.

    That's really bad!! Were the shoes that bad in the end? Not from USA but had a very positive experience from both Crocket & Jones + Loake factory. Both were sole faults which they refitted and re polished almost as new!! They weren't that old to be fair but it was really good.
