I'm looking to get my first pair of loafers and have found this pre-owned pair. They will be for occasional wear, but I'd still like to have a quality pair of Allen Edmonds! Do the soles on them appear to be in good shape? Thanks for any information!

About $50. Going through AE for refinishing would make them $200ish. Not sure they're worth it vs buying new.

Thanks for your reply. It was FAR more helpful and welcoming than another forum I was on this morning.

I bought a pair of used allen edmonds loafers recently (walden) for about $50 on Ebay. The soles were worn down about the same, but that doesn't bother me. What does bother me, is that the loafers make a loud clacking noise when you walk, and the right shoe squeaks rather audibly every step I take. I'm not sure why. Considering taking them to a local cobbler to have it fitted so it doesn't squeak anymore, and potentially replacing the sole as well. It would definitely be cheaper than having them refurbished by allen edmonds, especially if the leather is is decent condition (mine is, I actually prefer the imperfections and wear on the leather that comes with age).

Definitely look for a newer pair if you're willing to spend $200. If you haven't already, take a peek in our Marketplace and see what's out there http://www.styleforum.net/f/6654/buying-and-selling
