Things your dumb friends post on facebook

Many of the people who complain about the things they claim aren't taught in schools barely learned (or didn't learn) the things that are taught in schools. Why would we expect these other subjects to be any different?

People need to stop blaming 'school' for every shortcoming they have. School isn't meant to teach you everything you need for the rest of your life. Go ask your parents. Go to the library and check out a book. Go to a vocational school/JC. etc etc. AKA, Help yourself.

I’ve taught myself how to cook, home maintenance, home preventative maintenance and a decent amount of basic auto mechanic. Much of it was by growing up working on farms and having to do maintenance or watching someone else do it and then by doing it myself throughout life. I learned cooking by watching Saturday PBS. Now I have YouTube for teaching me specific things. My auti mechanics has fallen by the wayside as I’ve become lazy but my cooking gets a lot of praise. I wish I had taken some Shop classes in community college but struggled finding ones that were at the appropriate level for someone with some skills but who didn’t want to take a full multicourse curriculum.

Oh, and the above is about all I can add to this thread as I don’t have any, nor have ever had, social media. I am smart enough about risk analysis to stay away from activities with limited upside potential but unlimited downside potential. Plus via my SO’s facebook I can monitor our neighborhood FB page and knowing the true personalities of some of the people, even though I’ve never met them and only know of them via their posts, frightens me. There are an immense number of alcoholics out there, I’m well versed at spotting them. You can’t bullshit a bullshitter. Many others are just idiots. Thankfully the decent folks also post and I go out of my way to get to know them. I may be an asshole, but that doesn’t mean I want to hang with other assholes. 😆
