Any preferred GMAT study programs?

Any benefit to taking the GRE instead? Looking at entrance into a top part time program, so I'm not really that worried (I think they really just want your money at that point), but I still want to make sure everything works out.

Normally, I would recommend Manhattan. Unlike most of the other study programs, it pretty much focuses on hard questions so it's best if you are aiming for a high score.

I wouldn't do the GRE, while adcom are used to seeing it, employers care to some extent about your GMAT score (especially if you go to a school that has grade non-disclosure) and are generally less familiar with the GRE.

I just grabbed a dozen of books from the library - Princeton Review, etc. It worked for me.

i liked knewton, they have a money back option if you don't score 50 points higher after using it. Im also a visual learner so it worked better for me.

I did Manhattan, really liked it. I did some basic studying from their books before starting the actual course and scored low-600 something on the first practice. By 3/4 of the way through the course I was able to break 700, and on the actual exam I ended up with a 770.

Never ended up going to B-school, left finance to work in Tech instead.

Part time? Worth it?

Yeah, part time. Finished this summer (so I got the pleasure of spending some time at Zoom-U)

I am certainly glad I did it. Should have really done it a couple of years earlier, but I think it will still prove worthwhile.

I'm obviously biased, but I think there's a pretty strong case for the value of part-time programs in terms of the actual learning (rather than networking) elements. The fact that you can immediately apply things you learn and discuss current work issues in class is valuable.

That said, I'm probably still in the "too many people get MBAs" camp. I went to a top program with a very flexible curriculum so that I could tailor my class selection to my needs--I don't think it would have been worth the investment for a school that didn't have a strong brand behind it and the classes I wanted. There's a reason a lot of MBA programs have been struggling recently...paying for something that's not either a top ~15 program or a flagship local public program (assuming you intend to stay put) seems like a bad investment right now.
