Do you wear a blazer with shorts?

The jacket in the original picture looks all wrong with shorts, and the second guy just looks wrong, but I think it can work.

The jacket has to be a summery blue blazer, or seersucker or something along those lines. The shorts slim and as formal as shorts can be, and the occasion has to be right i.e. a fairly smart garden party somewhere quite hot. I could see it working in this case.

I actually think that away from the beach and the pool very few people look good in shorts and that includes slim/fit/athletic men. If you want to show off your iGent chops then break out the linen strides, that way if you must wear a blazer you won't look like you just graduated from primary school.
