I've found someone who would be willing to custom knit sweaters for me. For a simple sweater it will cost about $250 for decent wool and then upwards from there for more exotic stuff (lambswool, merino, cashmere, alpaca, mohair, etc.) She can also blend multiple yarns if desired. These would have to be relatively heavy gauge knits as finer gauge would take a very long time. (The sweater doesn't have to be heavy weight, but the knit has to be relatively wide as opposed to your average machine-knit sweater.)
I'm going to have her make a prototype to my spec for me, a shawl collar sweater like one I have but haven't been able to find a similar one since. I'll post when I get it.
She can also do scarves, caps, socks, gloves etc. and repairs/alterations to sweaters (she'll be fixing a Cloak sweater for Fok that's come unraveled a bit). I don't want to swamp her with work, but she sounded willing to take on a reasonable amount of this. Just wondering if there would be any interest in this. If so I can also get some pictures of pieces she's already done so you can get an idea of the quality.
