MM,

Look at your Vass or EG. The piping or beading is sandwiched between the upper and lining. I always thought this is how all shoe uppers are made. Looks like that is not the case.

Thanks for the clarification Fishball.

Interesting to note that Vass does not use beading to finish their edges.

Just out of curiosity, how many pairs of Zees do you have Fishball?

I'm tempted to get a couple more because I think they're a great buy, especially for tromping down gritty HK pavements. But at the same time, I always feel like I could spend all that money on something much better like a pair of EGs.

What do you think?

You can't go wrong with the price.
And the shoes they made hold up quite well.
Nice patina from polishing and aging too.
But be very specific on every details to avoid flaws.

Ben,

I have two pairs from Zee's, two from Mayer, which come from the same workshop.
I buy both the "better" one, like Vass, etc. and the cheaper local made.
Yes, you have to be very specific if you want the shoe look great.
Every details make a difference.
I got my bespoke last last week, thinking to order a new pair from Zee's.

Nope, Luk-cha.
Even I tried to get one pair from Spring Line last year, they don't reply my email after the first request. So I didn't get one from Spring Line. Beside, I can't go to England for measurments, and I don't trust myself for this critical job.

Luk-Cha,

Why don't ask Kolecho order you some Vass tree, instead of buying it from Spring Line?
